The following topics list symptoms to help you troubleshoot some of the issues that you might encounter when working with Amazon S3.
When you have objects with millions of versions, Amazon S3 automatically throttles requests to the bucket to protect the customer from an excessive amount of request traffic, which could potentially impede other requests made to the same bucket. To determine which S3 objects have millions of versions, use the Amazon S3 inventory tool. The inventory tool generates a report that provides a flat file list of the objects in a bucket.
For more information, see Amazon S3 Inventory. The Amazon S3 team encourages customers to investigate applications that repeatedly overwrite the same S3 object, potentially creating millions of versions for that object, to determine whether the application is working as intended. If you have a use case that requires millions of versions for one or more S3 objects, contact the AWS Support team at AWS Support to discuss your use case and to help us assist you in determining the optimal solution for your use case scenario.
Enable a lifecycle management "NonCurrentVersion" expiration policy and an "ExpiredObjectDeleteMarker" policy to expire the previous versions of objects and delete markers without associated data objects in the bucket.
Whenever you need to contact AWS Support due to encountering errors or unexpected behavior in Amazon S3, you will need to get the request IDs associated with the failed action. Request IDs come in pairs, are returned in every response that Amazon S3 processes even the erroneous onesand can be accessed through verbose logs. After you've recovered these logs, copy and retain those two values, because you'll need them when you contact AWS Support. You can obtain your request IDs, x-amz-request-id and x-amz-id-2 by logging the bits of an HTTP request before it reaches the target application.
There are a variety of third-party tools that can be used to recover verbose logs for HTTP requests. For web browser-based requests that return an error, the pair of requests IDs will look like the following examples.
For obtaining the request ID pair from successful requests, you'll need to use the developer tools to look at the HTTP response headers. You can configure logging using PHP. For more information, see How can I see what data is sent over the wire? You can enable logging for specific requests or responses, allowing you to catch and return only the relevant headers.
To do this, import the com. Afterwards, you can store the request in a variable before performing the actual request. Alternatively, you can use verbose logging of every Java request and response. NET using the built-in System.

There are lots of configuration options here, and you have to get them just right for Minio to work. Configure the client for use path-style access: [x] Setting this flag will result in path-style access being used for all requests.
If leave this option turned off then S3 client use domain name based access to S3: bucket-name. I think it's works but I not tested this. Because it's seemed too complicated for me. So I used this option. It's caught an error when I create a S3 Blob after a minio bucket created in the minio web console.

ERRO Initializing signature v4 failed. Thanks rafaelsisweb - will take a look. What was needed was to set Signature version to '4' as the signer since aws-sdk-java defaults to signature version '2' by default. The best football perdiction of today
This fails with Content-MD5 mis-match and pretty sure that is happening for multipart as well. I think you are doing a multipart operation. Okay so the Content-Md5 is not reliable here, so we cannot really verify, going to try non streaming approach.
Tested with S3TransferManager written in Golang - seems to be working fine. Going to test with Java now.

I haven't been able to take a look at this, been traveling and on vacation. Will do this on priority on coming monday. There has been some progress today - We are finally running some integration tests which aws-sdk-java needs to do before the patch is accepted.
Patch is going to accepted in a different form than what was currently submitted.Ita v ca

I was told by amazon support that every s3 response contains a s3 request id and an extended request id.Jigsaw puzzle factory tour
I am logging the full error object returned from s3. Where can I find these ids? I guess you are asking for x-amz-request-id and x-amz-id The former one is an HTTP response header entry that created by Amazon S3 to identify requests, and the latter one is also called extended request id which used for the internal debugging purpose. They are shown in the HTTP response headers.
You can inspect it using the browser or log the res. They are mainly used in the internal trouble shootings. Could you be more specific on the problem you are encountered with? Troubleshooting Amazon S3

The classpath must be set up for the process talking to S3: if this is code running in the Hadoop cluster, the JARs must be on that classpath.
That includes distcp and the hadoop fs command. Tip: you can use mvnrepository to determine the dependency version requirements of a specific hadoop-aws JAR published by the ASF. These are Hadoop filesystem client classes, found in the hadoop-aws JAR. An exception reporting this class as missing means that this JAR is not on the classpath. This happens if the hadoop-aws and hadoop-common JARs are out of sync. If Hadoop cannot authenticate with the S3 service endpoint, the client retries a number of times before eventually failing.
When it finally gives up, it will report a message about signature mismatch:. The likely cause is that you either have the wrong credentials or somehow the credentials were not readable on the host attempting to read or write the S3 Bucket.

If using session authentication, the session may have expired. Generate a new session token and secret. If using environment variable-based authentication, make sure that the relevant variables are set in the environment in which the process is running.Happy dog poems
The standard first step is: try to use the AWS command line tools with the same credentials, through a command such as:. That is: unset the fs. The timestamp is used in signing to S3, so as to defend against replay attacks. This can surface as the situation where read requests are allowed, but operations which write to the bucket are denied.
This can surface if your configuration is setting the fs. The value of fs. It may be mistyped, or the access key may have been deleted by one of the account managers. The bucket may have an access policy which the request does not comply with. If there is a bucket access policy, e.
Note: S3 Default Encryption options are not considered here: if the bucket policy requires AES as the encryption policy on PUT requests, then the encryption option must be set in the hadoop client so that the header is set. Otherwise, the problem will likely be that the user does not have full access to the operation.
If the client using assumed rolesand a policy is set in fs. Region must be provided when requesting session credentials, or an exception will be thrown with the message:. In this case you have to set the fs.
